Meander
A Greek key pattern or meander, symbolizing the flow of a river, often is found in stylized form as a border decoration on rugs, ceramics, and walls. A meander is similar to the Chinese sign for "returning," thus it is also a symbol of rebirth and eternity.
Individual representations vary greatly. Often a meander is made up of squares, spirals, or swastikas folded into one another. The constant repetition makes it a symbol of eternity.
In feng shui, the Greek key motif can be used to create a particular effect in a room, underlining the theme that has been chosen.
Applications:
- In a bathroom, as a tile border
- As a pattern for a wallpaper border or for curtains
- As a creative, decorative finish (for a wall, border, etc.).
