Kuan Yin

Her full Chinese name is Kuan Shi Yin Po Sa, which translates as: She who hears the screams of the world.

Originally she was a he: the Buddhist sun god Avalokiteshvara (the patron of Tibetan Buddhism), a bodhisattva who with his thousand hands and thousand eyes lived in the sun, the home of tmth.

Portrayed according to the ideal of beauty in India, he began to look more and more like a woman, with fully developed breasts. This is probably the reason why, in China, people saw him as a goddess (documented around the 9th century) and considered Kuan Yin to be the goddess of mercy, compassion, and of manifest knowledge. She knows when someone needs help and brings peace and empathy wherever she may be.

Applications:

  • As a porcelain figurine she has a dragon at her feet that can be filled with water. After meditation, the water can be sprinkled throughout the room to disperse her energy
  • As a sculpture carved from wood, to attract the energy of peace and mercy.
