Maintaining a healthy home Feng Shui in the Home
When we talk about Feng Shui in the home, we can imagine the home as if it is a human body.
You see, in Chinese medicine, ideally, your own chi should flow easily around your body.
From an energy perspective, most health problems are created by disturbances in the normal flow of chi. This could occur in areas where the chi in your body is stagnant, compressed, too fast-flowing or deficient. The reverse is also true: any physical ailment will result in a contorted flow of chi.

To help your chi find a healthy flow, it is best to immerse yourself in chi that is flowing freely, gently and harmoniously. This will calm any fast-flowing chi inside you and invigorate any stagnant chi.
For a home, the important areas for consideration are:
- your kitchen and larder, as these influence the chi that you take in;
- any place where there is water, as this can interact with the ambient chi in a way that has an adverse influence on the water chi in your body; and
- your bedroom, because this is where you spend most time in one place and where you regenerate.
If you know exactly what kind of chi you need in order to improve your health, you could recreate that chi in a part of your home where you spend plenty of time.
For example, if you need more upward chi, you could sit in tile east part of your home, facing east. The effect would be even stronger if you surrounded yourself with tall plants, because they increase the upward direction of chi flow.
