The Ying Yang of Bedroom Colors

Feng Shui bedroom colors are assigned to either Yin or Yang types. Within Feng Shui theory, yin colors are typically cool (e.g. Blue), yang colors are typically warm (e.g. Orange).

From a Yin Yang perspective, bright, highly saturated colors (e.g. red) can cause excitement and make sleeping difficult. Therefore, these colors are not recommended for the bedrooms.

Muted colors (e.g. blue, gray, beige) have calming restorative effects and encourage sleep. Try to use them for your bedrooms.

We should also try to strike a balanced use of color. This creates a sense of harmony. Excessive use of one color can create an uneasy atmosphere. If you want to use one color as the main theme for a room, introduce other colors through textures, fabrics or ornaments so that one element does not dominate the bedroom.
