Circle

Circle is the most important and widely used geometric symbol. It has no beginning and no end, no direction or orientation. In mystical tradition, the circle is the symbol of God, the ever-present center, complete and unassailable. This is the reason that the circle is the symbol of heaven and everything spiritual. For several mystical cultures, circles are considered protection against evil spirits and used to be drawn around a person performing an exorcism. Nobody is allowed to step into the circle. Some feng shui disciplines enclose unfavorable numbers inside a circle in order to limit and neutralize their influence. In astrology, a circle with a dot in the center is the symbol of the sun. In alchemy, the circle is the ana¬logue for the metal gold. In Christianity, a halo is usually a perfect circle; concentric circles are a sign of creation, similar to those created on the surface of the water when a stone is thrown in the water. The Chinese yin yang symbol expresses its duality in a circle. In Zen Buddhism, a circle means enlightenment. Because of its shape, a connection is created to everything that approaches a circle. The circle acts as a balancing force when people try to solve problems. Decisions are made at a round table. Even in traffic designs, a circle is used to harmoniously connect several streets from different directions and allow traffic to flow smoothly. In feng shui, the circle is assigned to the element Fire, like all other round shapes. It stands for heaven (yin) and for the human spirit. Round-shaped living spaces, while they unlock intellectual and spiritual pursuits are less favored because they don't provide orientation and stability. Applications: - To divert negative influences, for instance if the house number is 4.
- As a round rug for a narrow room, or in a hallway that has several doors.
- In front of an entrance door, in the shape of a mandala or spiral
- In order to collect or attract cosmic energy.
- Round objects in a picture support the element Metal.
